Whether you are more on the Android side of the smartphone spectrum than the iOS one, there is one thing no one can deny… and its simply that no other brand release can create hype like an apple release.
It has been more than half a year already since Apple launched the iPhone 15 series with a spec sheet (particularly the Pro models) that would make anybody think twice before critizing the iPhone. I guess the only criticism that always makes it to the top is that Apple always plays it safe with the iPhone and that they barely give us a reason to upgrade
I personally think it's not just an Apple problem, but instead a problem all the phone manufacturers are facing currently. Let's just be honest with ourselves for a minute please…The current state of our technology is AMAZING. The only way to get anything higher than an A grade will be getting an A+ or A++ grade. But it nevertheless still remains an A grade.
Now use that comparison to think this through. The current state of technology is actually so good that the only way to make products better, is by subtle improvements or just adding a whole lot of new features, that end up more often than not simply underutilized, or flat out unused.
With that out of the way, let's circle back to our main character and see what new features the iPhone 16 pro may get
The Display…
The new pro models are allegedly going to introduce new bigger displays. We will jump from 6.1 inch to 6.3 inch display for the iPhone 16 pro and from 6.7 inch to 6.9 inch display for the iPhone 16 pro Max. The iPhone's battery has never really been a highlight of the phone, so let's hope this increase in size might finally give those extra hours to thd iPhone.
New side button…
On leaked photos of dummy units from EFTM youtube channel we can clearly see a new button just beneath the On/Off button. Its allegedly going to be called “capture button” and will allow you to take pictures in a more natural way, just like you would do with do with a traditional camera. Reports from MacRumors claim it will be pressure and touch sensitive to faciliate zooming in and out.
New colors…
As per usual we are getting new colors too. A rumored “desert titanium” and a rose-looking color too. Finally we might get some interesting colors.
iOS 18…
AI is the new wild West. Everybody ist trying to get control and be the boss. Other brands like Samsung and Google are currently leading the AI-mania and some might some might argue that at this point in the race Apple can't close up on them anymore, but i think iOS 18 will show us a new realm of possibilities when it comes to the use of AI in our day-to-day life. It is already rumored that with the new iOS 18 that will be announced at this year's WWDC ( Worlwide Developer Conference ) you will be able to let AI generate a music playlist for you based on your preferences. That's just the tip of the iceberg because i'm sure so many more will be announced at WWDC. We all know Apple is always late on picking up on features other phones already share, but the new iOS 18 might just be the banger we have been waiting for.
And finally the chip…
More important than every other part, the chip is the one element responsible for 95% of all what you can do with your device. No matter how good the new iOS 18 is, it won't be that efficient if there isn't a powerful chip underneath it to power it up. So this year we will kiss goodbye to the A17 and welcome the A18. The execution of most AI related tasks are quite power-demanding. Reason why à lot of that is done externally, on the cloud, since most phones out there just aren't powerful enough. One more reason to get excited about the new chip.
